NPL Season 2 Begins Today in Kathmandu
The second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) begins today, featuring eight cricket franchises competing in league matches through Mangsir 21.
The second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) officially starts today (Mangsir 1) with eight participating teams: Janakpur Bolts, Sudurpashchim Royals, Lumbini Lions, Kathmandu Gurkhas, Biratnagar Kings, Chitwan Rhinos, Karnali Yaks, and Pokhara Avengers. The opening match features defending champions Janakpur Bolts against Kathmandu Gurkhas, beginning at 4:00 PM. Janakpur had won the first edition by defeating Sudurpashchim Royals in the final.
According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), league-stage matches will take place from November 17 (Mangsir 1) to December 7 (Mangsir 21). Each matchday will include two games, with the first scheduled for 11:45 AM and the second for 4:00 PM.
The playoffs will begin on December 9 with Qualifier 1 between the top two teams of the league table. On December 10, the Eliminator will be played between the teams finishing third and fourth. Qualifier 2 is scheduled for December 11, featuring the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator. The tournament will conclude on December 13 with the final match between the winners of the two qualifiers.
