Lumbini Lions head coach Yohannan’s salary is 14 lakh

For the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Lumbini Lions have reportedly signed Indian coach Tinu Yohannan. According to the Lumbini Lions, Yohannan has been contracted for NPR 1,360,000 (INR 850,000) for this season. However, the club has not officially disclosed his contract amount.

The 46-year-old Yohannan has extensive experience coaching various teams in the Ranji Trophy. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the head coach of the Kerala cricket team, leading them to the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy twice. Prior to that, in 2017, he worked as Kerala’s bowling coach and interim coach. Before becoming Kerala’s head coach, he also served as the director of the High-Performance Centre at the Kerala Cricket Academy.

Most recently, in the 2024–25 season, Yohannan was the head coach of the Andhra cricket team. Earlier this year, he joined the MRF Pace Foundation, which produces world-class fast bowlers for India.

A former Indian fast bowler himself, Yohannan played three Tests and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for India, taking five wickets in each format. His son, Tinu, an Asian Games gold medalist, is the first player from Kerala to play Test cricket.

Yohannan made his Test debut against England in 2001 and his ODI debut against the West Indies in 2002. He also played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the second edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2009. Additionally, he represented Kerala in domestic cricket from 1999 to 2008.
