Kathmandu Gurkhas Field Against Defending Champions Janakpur Bolts in NPL Season 2 Opener



Kathmandu Gurkhas won the toss and opted to field first against Janakpur Bolts in the opening match of Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground, Tarkeshwor.

In the NPL Season 2 opening match, Kathmandu Gurkhas, led by captain Karan KC, won the toss and chose to field first, inviting defending champions Janakpur Bolts, captained by Anil Sah, to bat.

Kathmandu Gurkhas have appointed Monty Desai as head coach, who previously served as the head coach of the Nepal national cricket team. The team’s foreign players include Ricardo Vasconcelos (South Africa), Gerhard Erasmus (Scotland), Milind Kumar and Sunny Patel (USA), and Ben Charlesworth and Jon Simpson (England). Other key players in the squad include Bhim Sarki, Shahav Alam, Rashid Khan, Dipesh Kandel, Pratik Shrestha, Mohammad Adil Alam Ansari, Santosh Yadav, Akash Tripathi, Uttam Thapamagar, and Tulbahadur Thapa.

Janakpur Bolts are coached by Shivnarayan Chandrapal from the West Indies. The team features foreign players Imran Tahir and Wayne Parnell (South Africa), Lahiru Milantha (Sri Lanka), Sanjay Krishnamurthi (USA), and Nicol Loftie-Eaton (Namibia). Local players include Asif Sheikh, Anilkumar Sah, Lalitnarayan Rajbanshi, Kishor Mahto, Rupesh Singh, Tulbahadur Thapamagar, Mayan Yadav, Aditya Mehta, Vikas Agri, and Sachin Bhatt.

The match marks the start of NPL Season 2, which brings together domestic and international talent to compete in Nepal’s premier T20 cricket tournament.
