Tinu Yohannan Appointed Head Coach of Lumbini Lions for NPL Season 2
Indian coach Tinu Yohannan has been appointed as the head coach of Lumbini Lions. The Lumbini Lions announced that Yohannan will lead the team in the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The 46-year-old has extensive coaching experience in the Ranji Trophy, having coached various teams. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the head coach of the Kerala cricket team, during which Kerala reached the quarterfinals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy twice under his guidance.
He had earlier worked as Kerala’s bowling coach and interim coach in 2017, and before becoming the head coach in 2020, he also served as the Director of the High-Performance Centre at the Kerala Cricket Academy.
Most recently, in the 2024–25 season, Tinu was the head coach of the Andhra cricket team. Earlier this year, he also began working with the MRF Pace Foundation, which is known for producing world-class fast bowlers for India.
A former Indian fast bowler, Tinu represented India in three Test matches and one One Day International (ODI), taking five wickets each in both formats.
He is the son of Asian Games gold medalist T.C. Yohannan and became the first player from Kerala to represent India in Test cricket.
Tinu made his Test debut against England in 2001 and his ODI debut against the West Indies in 2002.
